Severe hailstorm hits Rome: the streets are flooded, the schools are closed (PHOTO, VIDEO)
The last night happened to be hard and absolutely extraordinary for Italian capital. A huge hail, accompanied strong wind an heavy torrential rain hit Rome. Some cars were even trapped in ice or flooded streets.
The Civil Protection Department has issued orange alert for the regions of Calabria, Puglia and Basilicata. Meanwhile Calabria was damaged the most. Firefighters were called countrywide from Sicily to Milan to cope with the consequences of bad weather. Schools within the region remain closed.
For some other regions, i.e Abruzzo, Sicily and Lazio, a yellow warning was issued.
It happened after a long period of extremely warm for the autumn weather, which ended with a sharp decrease in temperature. In Rome, the streets turned white and icy after powerful hail storm that took place on Sunday.
